Columbia Southern University and WKRG-TV are working together to recognize first responders who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a difference in the lives of others. Each “Smiles Behind the Shield” plaque is given to one outstanding first responder in the Mobile, Alabama, area each month. As a leading educator in the public service sector, CSU is honored to recognize these local heroes—firefighters, EMTs, police officers and more—many of whom are CSU graduates.
