Columbia Southern University (CSU) congratulates Hardeeville, S.C., firefighter Dillon Cox on winning a 2016 Safety Scholarship to help him pursue a master’s degree!

“With this degree, I feel that it would give me the edge to not only provide the needed knowledge for success, but it will make me a more marketable job candidate,” said the CSU graduate who holds a bachelor’s in occupational safety and health.

The scholarship will cover up to $12,600 in one online degree program with CSU. The scholarship will be applied directly to the recipient’s tuition for up to three years or until the completion of the selected online degree program, whichever comes first.

The husband and father of two works full time with his fire department, part time with a secondary fire department and part time with an emergency medical service agency.

“I have made a promise to my family to give them the life I wish I always had growing up and I intend to do whatever it takes to keep this promise,” Cox said. As a recipient of this scholarship, he said it will keep him on the right path to giving his family a brighter future.

Columbia Southern University offers online certificate and degree programs in various fields such as fire administration, human resource management, organizational leadership and business administration.
