CSU Helps Feeding the Gulf Coast Nourish Area Schoolkids

ORANGE BEACH, ALA. — As part of its community outreach, Columbia Southern University (CSU) donated $3,000 to Feeding the Gulf Coast on Wednesday, April 12, to support its ongoing backpack program to feed at-risk children in the local area.

Several CSU staffers also helped to pack nutritious meals into bags, which will be discreetly given to children throughout the year for their breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

The donation, led by Vicki Barnes, CSU director of community outreach, will reportedly help feed about 35 Baldwin County students for an entire school year. CSU has participated in the backpack program since 2014.

"CSU is so proud to be a part of Feeding the Gulf Coast’s mission to help area at-risk children,” Barnes said. “This backpack program is a vital program that benefits so many south Alabamians. We at CSU are in awe of the good it does and fully support Feeding the Gulf Coast’s efforts to feed so many.”
