Columbia Southern University Reaches Academic Milestone
08/11/2020
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. -- Mathematics 2301. That is the official name of the course, also known as elementary statistics, which earned Columbia Southern University its 50th Quality Matters (QM) certification.
QM certified courses benefit both students and faculty members by improving faculty instruction and the feedback that students receive from their instructors.
"Our instructional designers and faculty members work diligently to craft courses that meet these rigorous standards of excellence," said Dayna Fuller, CSU's director of Instructional Design and Technology. "We are proud to have reached this milestone number of certified course approvals and look forward to attaining 100."
Quality Matters, a nonprofit organization that strives "to champion quality assurance in online learning and provide the gold standard for certifying the quality of online courses and programs," uses a faculty-centered process to review courses considered for certification. Schools must meet Quality Matters program's standards for higher education at a level of 85% or greater.
CSU Provost and Chief Academic Officer Barry Goldstein, Ph.D., agreed and added, "This is a wonderful milestone for CSU academically as it reflects our consistent effort to maintain a high degree of excellence in our course content and design to ensure our students are educated at the highest level."
