ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – Columbia Southern University (CSU), a leader in first-responder education, recently partnered with the Georgia Public Safety Training Center’s Georgia Fire Academy, in Forsyth, Georgia. The agreement allows academy students to transfer credits toward online degree programs at CSU.

The Georgia Fire Academy, which was founded in 1975, oversees all training for career and volunteer firefighters in Georgia. The academy offers a comprehensive array of training courses that address the professional development needs of Georgia Fire and EMS organizations from entry-level training through chief officer training.

“We are thrilled to work with Georgia Fire Academy and offer this opportunity to their students who want to continue their education journey,” said Ken Styron, DBA, president of CSU. “As a university that was founded to provide accessible, affordable higher education for working professionals, we feel this agreement will increase their options for success by building on their skills and talents.”

“We are excited about this opportunity to work with Columbia Southern University. It is good to know the work Georgia Firefighters put in at our academy will be recognized as they seek to obtain higher education,” said Ike McConnell, division director, Georgia Fire Academy.

The agreement will also provide Georgia Fire Academy students, staff and their immediate family members with a Learning Partner discount of 10% off their CSU tuition as well as eligibility for the Learning Partner Scholarship.

Disclaimer: The amount of transfer credits is dependent upon transcript evaluation.
