About This Course

IHMM: Institute of Hazardous Materials ManagementThe Certified Dangerous Goods Professional certification is a valued credential in the transportation safety industry. This course is designed to present students with an overview of the concepts covered in the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) CDGP® exam.

CDGP: Certified Dangerous Goods ProfessionalPowerPoint presentations with pre-recorded audio and supplementary material will take you through how to identify and prepare dangerous goods for shipment according to the DOT’s 49 CFR regulations, the ICAO Technical Instructions, and the IMDG Code. The presentation covers the topics outlined in the CDGP® examination blueprint (as indicated in the course syllabus).

Textbook(s)

All course materials are included in the course at no additional fee.

It is highly recommended that students consult updated copies of the ICAO TI and IMDG Code. Title 49 CFR can be accessed online.

The course offers many links to additional documents and supplementary information for a deeper dive. Most slides also display the regulatory references associated with the topic for the student to easily access source information.

Prerequisites to Take Certification Exam

A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a field related to dangerous goods transportation to take the IHMM CDGP® certification exam. Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements before scheduling and taking their exam. These include the following:

  1. File an application
  2. Transcript (upload a copy of your transcript/diploma if applicable to the application)
  3. Third-party employment verification
  4. Pay the application fee

Then pass the exam and pay the annual fee to be issued the credential. For full details see the IHMM Website.

  1. Students may request a course extension if the course is not completed within the allotted 10 week time frame. Extension options are available, with associated, non-refundable processing fees. Students who do not complete the course with a 70% or higher within the allotted 10 weeks and do not request a course extension will be removed from the course. Back to duration
