Overview
The RN to Master of Science in Nursing Education program at Columbia Southern University enables registered nurses with an associate degree to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree upon completion. This program empowers nurse educators by equipping them with essential skills and knowledge needed to develop and implement innovative curricula, assessment methods, and educational technologies—key capabilities for meeting the growing educational demands in nursing. The curriculum aligns with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's "The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education" (2021).
Students will examine how economic, sociocultural, ethical, and political factors affect population health management in nursing practice, education, and health care. They will incorporate concepts of social justice and person-centered care to enhance quality and safety across various healthcare settings. The program also emphasizes evaluating health care information technologies to improve the delivery of safe, high-quality, and efficient care in line with regulatory standards. Students will explore nursing leadership skills necessary to empower others, enhance population health, and enhance patient-centered care within an interprofessional team. They will practice effective communication skills crucial for engaging diverse audiences, addressing complex challenges, and supporting informed decision-making.
Multiple factors, including prior experience, geography and degree field, affect career outcomes. CSU does not guarantee a job, promotion, salary increase, eligibility for a position, or other career growth.
Columbia Southern University’s nursing programs are currently seeking authorization from the Boards of Nursing in the District of Columbia, Idaho, Utah, and Washington.
